I set out to create a fun IoT project that provided more device control and included more cognitive features. I created a smart coffee machine, one that is connected to Watson IoT Platform and uses MQTT to send and receive commands, just by talking to the IoT application.
In this pattern, you learn how to implement a custom voice experience using a microphone, Watson services, and of course a coffee machine connected to an IoT device. I also including using IFTTT to send messages of the coffee machine’s behaviors to Slack, so that you can let everyone know that coffee was made or so that you can enjoy coffee breaks together with your team.
While I used a coffee machine, you can do a lot more with other devices or with home automation using this very same concept. I look forward to see what you’ll build. Enjoy this pattern!
