DFHSJ0201 ENCLAVE_INIT_FAILED and DFHSJ0914E when starting CICS TS 5.2

Question & Answer

Question

Why would l receive message DFHSJ0210 with ENCLAVE_INIT_FAILED followed by DFHSJ0914E when I start starting my CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) V5.2 region?

These are the messages I receive:

DFHSJ0210 - An attempt to start a JVM for the JVMSERERVER resource DFHWLP has failed. Reason code: ENCLAVE_INIT_FAILED.
DFHSJ0914E - JVMSERVER DFHWLP is installed as DISABLED because the Language Environment. Enclave was not created.

Answer

Check your SDFJAUTH(DFHSJBID) member to see if you have the latest DATASET build id. Browse the dataset and search on "CICS0690".

Verify the USSHOME Build id within zFS by browsing the $USSHOME/lib/dfhsjbid.so file. Search on "CICS0690" to locate the build id and it should match the SDFJAUTH(DFHSJBID) build id.

In this case, both Build id's should be CICS0690_endapar_20140805-1425

When the Build id's do not match a dynamically generated SYSOUT contains the following messages indicating a problem with your USSHOME SIT override setting:

DFHWLP Exc: USSHOME build id =CICS0690_endapar_20140805-1425

DFHWLP Exc: DATASET build id =CICS0690_GM04_20140521-1529

DFHWLP Exc: USSHOME and CICS datasets do not match
