Hi,
I am trying to figure out if Firefox 28.0 is supported.
This page - https://developer.ibm.com/bluemix/support/#prereqs
Firefox, latest version for your operating system and ESR 31
I don't clearly understand what ESR 31 is though I tried to comprehend it from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/faq/
Does ESR 31 imply that my Firefox must be at a higher version than 31?
Can somebody educate and advise me on this.
A broader question is why isn't the pre-reqs listing specific version names or version name and above instead of saying latest version for your Operating System.
Thanks

Hi Bala,
As the pre-requisite page suggests, the "minimum" supported version of Firefox is 31. So your browser should be at least running FF version 31. The latest version of Firefox that is currently available is 34.0.5

I'd like to add a little clarity to this. FireFox designates certain releases as ESR (Extended Support Release) so that organizations that choose can have a stable, unchanging version of FireFox for a period of multiple months (rather than accepting/supporting all of the updates FireFox pushes on a regular basis).
So, when we say we support FireFox 31 ESR it refers to a particular release. And, while we don't support anything before FireFox ESR 31, it does not indicate a "minimum" per se. That is, we do not support everything newer than FireFox 31.
Coincidentally, I went to check my version just now and I was just auto-upgraded from 34.05 to 35.0 -- exactly the thing the ESR releases are intended to help organizations avoid. :)

To understand Firefox ESR, please see https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/faq/
It is a long-term/stable release to which security fixes will be backported for about a year. Similar to Ubuntu LTS releases.
