SITRAN no longer running after applying RSU1412 to CICS TS 5.2

Question & Answer

Question

Why did the SITTRAN stop executing after I applied the PTFs in Recommended Service Update RSU1412 to CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) V5.2? SITTRAN is a CA Top Secret parameter that defines the transaction that is supposed to automatically kick off when a user signs on to CICS. The transaction is no longer being kicked off.

Answer

APAR PI21866 added support for the Enhanced Password Algorithm implemented in the RACF APAR OA43999 which applies to z/OS 1.12, 1.13 and 2.1. If these APARs are installed, CICS will call a new callable service IRRSPW00 to for password authentication. This service will be used for basic authentication requests, VERIFY PASSWORD, VERIFY PHRASE and SIGNON requests.

Users of CA Top Secret should request fixes RO78976 and RO78438 (previously included as temporary fix TR78438). Contact CA Technologies if you need additional assistance.
