Can CICS VSAM Transparency for z/OS (CICS VT) 1.2 and 2.1 configurations co-exist while I upgrade?

I would like to have batch running with the CICS VT V1.2 SVIDLODE data set for 1 or 2 weeks after completing the product upgrade to CICS VT V2.1 in CICS on both sysplexes. Once I complete the product upgrade in other plex/lpar, then I will change the alias for the SVIDLODE data set to point to new CICS VT V2.1 SVIDLODE.

Answer

Both CICS VT 1.2 and 2.1 configurations may co-exist.

There were no changes in CICS VT 2.1 that affect the CICS VT runtime in batch and CICS. The major changes were new functions to enable auto generation of data migration jobs. Therefore, you should have no problems with SVIDLODE at 1.2 in batch and 2.1 in CICS.
