SNMP subagent messages EZZ3219I and EZZ3218I flood syslog

This problem can arise if the OSAENABLED parameter is specified on the SACONFIG statement in the TCPIP.PROFILE. The SACONFIG statement controls the SNMP TCP/IP subagent. If OSAENABLED is specified, the subagent will connect to OSA/SF and obtain OSA-Express data. If a problem occurs obtaining the OSA-Express data, the connection will end and message EZZ3219I will be issued.

To obtain OSA-Express data from SNMP, use the SNMP OSA-Express Direct subagent by starting IOBSNMP. IOBSNMP provides data for the current OSA-Express features whereas the TCP/IP subagent supports only data for old OSA-Express features. When running IOBSNMP, the OSADISABLED parameter should be specified on the SACONFIG profile statement so that the TCP/IP subagent does not try to connect to OSA/SF.

If SACONFIG specifies OSAENABLED, take the following steps:

1. Create a data set or PDS member that contains the SACONFIG profile statement with the DISABLED parameter. Processing of this profile statement will cause the TCP/IP subagent to end.

2. Issue the VARY TCPIP,,OBEYFILE command to put that change into effect.

3. Change OSAENABLED to OSADISABLED on the original SACONFIG profile statement. Processing of this profile statement will restart the TCP/IP subagent with the OSADISABLED parameter in effect.

4. Issue the VARY TCPIP,,OBEYFILE command to put that change into effect.

5. Stop the IOASNMP application (program IOANMAIN)

After performing the above steps, the EZZ3219I and EZZ3218I messages should no longer appear in the syslog.
