DFHAP001 0C1 AKEA at FFFFFFFF in TSTORPLT after upgrading z/OS

Question & Answer

Question

Why would I receive an abend 0C1 in module TSTORPLT during CICS startup after upgrading to a new release of z/OS? I receive the following message in my CICS Transaction Server for z/OS region during PLT processing:

DFHAP0001 An abend (code 0C1/AKEA) has occurred at offset X'FFFFFFFF' in module TSTORPLT.

Answer

A likely cause is an old backlevel version of some LE modules, such as CEEPLPKA, that are inconsistent with other LE modules that are up-to-date with the new release of z/OS. TSTORPLT is a PLT program used for the TICTOC product. TICTOC install procedures include copying some LE module to a TICTOC load library. After the z/OS upgrade, the LE modules in that TICTOC load library are no longer compatible with other LE modules.

The solution? Make sure the TICTOC load libraries in the DFHRPL concatenation contain LE modules from the new z/OS level.
