Question & Answer
Question
On VSE VTAM or VM VTAM, after entering the VTAM command F NET,EXIT,OPTION=ACT,ID=exit_name to activate the installation-wide exit routine specified by exit_name, the following message appears:
IST985I USER EXIT exit_name ACTIVATION FAILED- CODE 2F
Answer
The code 2F in message IST985I indicates that you are using the Client/Server package of either VSE VTAM or VM VTAM, and that the Client/Server package does not support the specific exit you activated.
The only exit routines supported by the Client/Server package are:
the session accounting exit routine
the session authorization exit routine.
The exit exit_name cannot be loaded and will not be invoked.
Issue the D NET,VTAMOPTS command to display the following message that indicates the installed package:
IST1497I VTAM FUNCTIONAL SUPPORT LEVEL IS *package_name*
Contact your system programmer to determine if this exit routine is really needed.[] If it is needed, in order to use the exit exit_name, you must upgrade to the MultiDomain or InterEnterprise package.
Installation-wide exit routines that require the MultiDomain or InterEnterprise package are as follows:
Session management exit routine
Virtual route selection exit routine
Virtual route pacing window size calculation exit routine
Configuration services exchange identification (XID) exit routine
Selection of definitions for dependent LUs (SDDLU) exit routine
Command verification exit routine
USERVAR exit routine
Directory services management exit routine
If you decide that this exit routine is required, then see the Technote (FAQ) Functional Support Level of VSE VTAM and VM VTAM for information on how to upgrade to the package that you require to run this exit routine.
