Question & Answer
Question
I am attempting to implement RIP authentication for OMPROUTE, but OMPROUTE is generating messages like this one:
EZZ8020I Authentication error received from host source
What can I do to eliminate this error message?
Answer
The error message EZZ8020I indicates that a RIP packet from the specified host was rejected due to an authentication error caused by either invalid authentication information or authentication not being enabled. This is probably caused by a misconfiguration.
Verify that, on the RIP_INTERFACE statement, both of the following are coded:
Receive_RIP=RIP2
Authentication_Key=key
Verify that the RIP neighbor that sent the RIP packet to OMPROUTE is using an authentication key that matches the authentication key specified on the Authentication_Key parameter of the RIP_INTERFACE statement. Any RIP packet received over an interface that has a mismatched authentication key will be rejected.
After making any changes to these parameters, restart OMPROUTE to enable them.
To verify that the changes have been made correctly, enter either of these 2 commands:
DISPLAY TCPIP,tcpipjobname,OMPROUTE,RIP,LIST,ALL
DISPLAY TCPIP,tcpipjobname,OMPROUTE,RIP,LIST,InterFaceS
