Question
Why is my CICS region failing during startup with message DFHAP1203I followed by DFHSR0601 after I upgraded to CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) V5.2? A system dump shows an abend 0C1 occurring in the Debug Tool for z/OS module EQA10OSM.
I receive the following messages:
DFHAP1203I Language Environment is being initialized.
DFHSR0601 Program interrupt occurred with system task III in control.
Answer
The abend 0C1 in module EQA10OSM could be a result of running a back-level version of the Debug Tool. Note that you must use the BEAR address from the dump to locate EQA10OSM because the PSW is 00000002 and not useful.
According to the "CICS TS V5.2 Software Product Compatibility Reports" which you can find a link to from the CICS Transaction Server for z/OS 5.2 Detailed System Requirements, Debug Tool for z/OS V12.1 is the prerequisite minimum listed under for "Supported Software" for CICS TS 5.2. So, you should make sure you are running Debug Tool release 12.1 or higher.
