Can a CICS TS 5.2 region connect to a CPSM 4.2 CMAS?

Is it possible to just upgrade my CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) V4.2 region to V5.2 and leave the CICSPlex SM (CPSM) MAS agent at the CICS TS V4.2 level until I can upgrade my CPSM configuration?

I am running CICS TS V4.2 with CPSM V4.2 and just upgraded my first CICS TS V4.2 region to CICS TS V5.2 by updating the CICS data sets to the V5.2 data sets, resources, catalogs...etc. The CPSM MAS is still using the V4.2 SEYUAUTH and SEYULOAD datasets as I plan on updating CPSM to V5.2 last after I update all of my CICS regions to V5.2.

When I start the CICS TS V5.2 region I get messages:

DFHME0107 Module CJFMCT1E cannot be found in the library.
DFHSI8440I Initiating connection to CICSPlex SM.
DFHSI1579D Module DFHSIPLT connection program CJF9NXLM not found. Reply GO or CANCEL.

I checked the SEYUAUTH and SEYULOAD datasets and those modules do not exist.

I then tried just adding the 5.2 SEYUAUTH and SEYULOAD to the CICS TS 5.2 region startup, and I get past the DFHSI1579D but now it just hangs after messages:

EYUXL0030I ESSS connection in progress to CICSPLEX(my_42_plex) for SYSID(xxxx)

Answer

No, you cannot just connect your CICS TS 5.2 region to your existing CPSM 4.2 CMAS and CICSplex. You need to upgrade the CICSPlex SM Configuration first.
