Question & Answer

Question

How do I determine the date and time a TCP/IP stack was started and whether a TCP/IP stack is enabled for IPv6?

Answer

To determine the date and time a TCPIP stack was started and whether a TCPIP stack is enabled for IPv6:

From TSO environment:

      NETSTAT UP
      NETSTAT UP TCP tcpname

From UNIX shell environment:

      netstat -u
      netstat -u -p tcpname

Here is an example of output from this command:

 NETSTAT UP
EZZ2350I MVS TCP/IP NETSTAT CS V1R13 TCPIP Name: TCPCS
EZZ2623I Tcpip started at 14:27:29 on 01/31/2002 with IPv6 disabled

If the stack has IPv6 enabled, output from the NETSTAT UP command will look like this:

Tcpip started at 14:45:16 on 10/24/2007 with IPv6 enabled
