Question & Answer
Question
Why do I no longer need to include the TCPIP dataspace when taking a dump of TCPIP?
Answer
Prior to z/OS v1r13, the TCPIP dataspace, TCPIPDS1, was used to capture trace records for active CTRACE options. CTRACE records were moved to 64-bit storage starting with z/OS v1R13 and use of the TCPIPDS1 dataspace was eliminated. So when you take a dump of TCPIP either with a console dump or SLIP command, you should not include the DSPNAME parmeter - DSPNAME=('TCPIPprocname'.*) or DSPNAME=('TCPIPprocname'.TCPIPDS1).
If you forget to remove the TCPIP dataspace when you take a console dump that includes the dataspace you will get a message indicating the syntax of your command is invalid.
