Question & Answer
Question
Why doesn't my installation CICS VSAM Recovery for z/OS (CICS VR) installation verification procedures (IVP) forward recovery job output for the CUSTOMER VSAM sphere match the journal statistics in Figure 3 of the CICS VR documentation under 'DWWCLIST - ISPF dialog interface' ? I noticed on the ISPF dialog panel "CICS VR VSAM sphere parameters" that my 'Backup type' was "LOGICAL" instead of "None" as in the example.
Answer
In step 6 of the forward recovery IVP, the ISPF panel " "CICS VR VSAM sphere parameters" shows the 'Backup type' as "None". DWWUSER.V520.CUSTOMER.NEW is used as the backup for the IVP. This sphere should not use an HSM logical backup.
CICSVR VSAM sphere parameters
Command ===>
Press F4 when the cursor is in the Backup time field to get a list of data
set backup times. Press Enter to continue.
VSAM sphere . . . . . . : DWWUSER.V520.CUSTOMER
New VSAM sphere name . . DWWUSER.V520.CUSTOMER.NEW
Forward-recovery start time . . 14.030 13:28:06 (YY.DDD HH:MM:SS)
Forward-recovery stop time . . (YY.DDD HH:MM:SS)
Backup time . . . . . . . . . . + (YY.DDD HH:MM:SS)
Time format . . . . . Local + Backup type . None +
Volume for restore . . Unit for restore . . . . .
F1=Help F4=Prompt F5=GetDef F6=SaveDef F7=PrevVSAM F12=Cancel
Step 7 should add a note to also check that the 'Backup type' is "None" and if not, to use PF4 prompt to set it to 'None'. For example:
Complete the following fields:
New VSAM Sphere name.............&THLQ.CUSTOMER.NEW (where &THLQ is the high level qualifier used in job DWWVRDEF).
Forward recovery start time...........yy.ddd hh:mm:ss (that is, the time the DWWRUNBL job started).
Note: if the 'Backup type' is not "None", use PF4 Prompt to set it to 'None'.
Press Enter.
