Upgrading CICS CM SCCVAUTH data set to latest version for passticket support

Question & Answer

Question

Is the CICS Configuration Manager for z/OS (CICS CM) V5.1 CCVSCRPT passticket program in SCCVAUTH upward compatible with CICS CM V5.2? I am upgrading CICS CM from V5.1 to V5.2 and need to know this because I will be performing the upgrade one LPAR at a time.

The IBM Knowledge Center for CICS CM 5.2 in the topic 'Upgrading from V5.1' in note 7. it says...

"While the V5.1 and V5.2 CCVSCRPT members are functionally equivalent, it is recommended that you implement the V5.2 member."

Answer

Source program CCVSCRPT has remained unchanged since 21 May 2006 in CICS Configuration Manager V1.2. CICS CM development has successfully tested CCVSCRPT forward and backward compatibility across CICS CM V5.2 to CICS CM V2.1.

There is no intent by CICS CM development to change the CCVSCRPT program. The CCVSCRPT program would only require change if the SAF passticket interface routine (RCVTPTGN) invoked by CCVSCRPT changes. Any future changes to system authorization facility (SAF) interfaces are outside the control of CICS Configuration Manager development.
