Question & Answer
Question
Why do I see errors about the schema version when I upgrade to CICS Explorer 5.2.0.3 or later? I created new policy types in CICS Explorer 5.2.
The error messages are validation messages, indicated by red crosses, displayed in the problems section in CICS Explorer. They don't have error message numbers. For example:
Schema version required by rule {0} is version {1}, release {2}.
Schema version required by rules in policy is version {0}, release {1}.
Where the numbers in the curly brackets are variables (rule_name, version_number, release_number).
Answer
When the PTF UI25626 for APAR PI34509 is applied to CICS Transaction Sever for z/OS (CICS TS) Version 5.2, the policy schema version 2.0 is available and you can deploy a policy with policy rules that require a policy schema version 2.0 or earlier.
However, if you used CICS Explorer 5.2 to 5.2.0.2 to create one of the following new policy types that were introduced in CICS TS Version 5.2, the policySchemaVersion for these policy types was not updated:
Syncpoint Request policy
Start Request policy
TD Queue Request policy
TS Queue Bytes policy
TS Queue Request policy
Elapsed time policy
Therefore, if you upgrade to to CICS Explorer 5.2.0.3 or later, error messages about the schema version will occur. To resolve such messages, open the policy XML file in an editor and change the policySchemaVersion from 1 to 2, for example:
policySchemaRelease="0" policySchemaVersion="2"
This situation does not occur for policies that you create in CICS Explorer 5.2.0.3 or later.
