DFHAP0701 0C4 AKEA in TX5FCSRC during startup after upgrading to CICS TS 5.2

Why do I receive message DFHAP0701 with abend0C4 abendAKEA in TX5FCSRC during startup of CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) V5.2? I recently upgraded a CICS region from V5.1 to V5.2. I am using ASG-TMON for CICS TS for z/OS from ASG Software Solutions.

I am receiving this message at startup:

DFHAP0701 applid An ABEND (code 0C4/AKEA) has occurred in exit program TX5FCSRC at exit point XFCSREQC.

Answer

A system dump shows module TM5N956 (by ASG) took an 0C4 on an OC instruction (D603 2014 2014) using Register 2. Register 2 was pointing to Key 0 storage but the PSW was in Key 8.

It was discovered the ASG module was at a level that is incompatible with CICS V5.2 and had to be upgraded to a higher level. This is the eye-catcher for TM5N956 in the dump that shows the level of software being used at the time of the abend:
