Question & Answer
Question
Why is the CICS Batch Application Control Generic SET FILE command failing with message CBKSC8008E and Error codes 00000048 19D42388 00000000 USER COMPLETION CODE 3111? I applied CICS Batch Application Control for z/OS V1.1.1 PTF UI26219 for the Generic Set File request support described in APAR PI23581 but the generic SET FILE request fails.
Usually, there is a 'DOC' holderror outlining new requirements to activate a feature like this.
I tried testing the new Generic SET FILE enhancement. I am getting the exact same result as I obtained before installing the maintenance:
SET FILE(CIU*),OPENSTATUS(OPENED),ENABLESTATUS(ENABLED)
...results in message:
CBKBV2807E Invalid character in parameter value at offset 9.
I updated my CBKPARM with GENSETFILE(YES) and tried running with the generic file name. I get messages:
CBKBN2834I Generic set file commands allowed for this CICS BAC batch request utility job step.
The CICS CBKLOG showed:
CBKCI8518I 1 GENFILE START CIU* O=O E=E
However, I received the following error when CICS tried to process the request:
CBKSC8008E Unknown error received from region myregion during CBAC request. Error codes: 00000048 19D42388 00000000 USER COMPLETION CODE=3111
I need help understanding these error codes and the completion code.
Answer
I asked the CICS BAC developer and his guess is that the program definition for CBKCGSFB may be missing in the CICS region. CBKCGFSB was a new program added by the Generic Set File (GSF) enhancement. There is a sample definition in the CBKPROGS SAMPLIB member. I also submitted an IBM Knowledge Center feedback form to document the GENSETFILE CBKPARM and error code descriptions for the CBKCS800E message.
