DFHDM0104 Unsuccessful load of DFHTADML during CICS TS 4.1 startup

Question

What would cause message DFHDM0104 when I try to start up a CICS Translation Server for z/OS (CICS TS) V4.1 region on different LPAR? This is the message I receive:

DFHDM0104 Unsuccessful load of program DFHTADML. CICS will terminate.

Answer

DFHTADML only exists in CICS V4.2 and higher releases. If you are starting a CICS V4.1 region, it should not be trying to load DFHTADML. This problem is likely due to not using a CICS 4.1 version of DFHCCUTL to create the catalogs for CICS. Try rebuilding the catalogs so they are for the correct CICS release. When running the DFFDEFDS job, make sure you are pointing to the correct version of SDFHLOAD.
