I've installed and configured the CCRC WAN Server. I can create a new web view in CTE with CQ integrated, checkout with no issue.
However, when I try to access the old v7 web views, load them by "Add Existing Web View ...", (Please see attached image) update the URL as you can see from the left panel. However the right panel still shows the old hostname. When I try to expand the view, I got this error: !MESSAGE An internal error occurred during: "Getting toolbar activities". !STACK 0 java.lang.AssertionError: cachedUniActivity should not be null. Then I followed this to restart CTE: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21516903. After restart, the URL got back to the old one. So I am stuck.![alt text][1]
When I try to expand the view, I also get this error: CRMSV2033: Property is not yet implemented - "http://xmlns.rational.com/TEAM/PROPERTY:file-area-root-directory"
For those v7 web views, I copied the view storage and copy area and registered these view to a new registry server. We are migrating everything from v7 to v8 with all new servers. [1]: /answers/storage/temp/4259-cte.png

First you cannot use the CTE on version 8.0.x to access an old CM Server on version 7.x. You must use a CCRC WAN Server also on version 8.0.x (see http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21597061).
But it seems you are trying to migrate old views to the new host. I recommend not migrating old web views. Simply create new web views that use the same config spec, or attached to same streams in case of UCM, as the old ones. Migrating views, that most liley require a reformatview (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSSH27_8.0.1/com.ibm.rational.clearcase.cc_ref.doc/topics/ct_reformatview.htm) is additional work that you should not need to perform. Views usually do not store the critical data, as all of it should be on the VOBs. Even the case of keeping view private files is a simple copy operation once you have the new views.
Not migrating all existing views is a good option to get rid of old and unused views. The users simply create the views they need for the moment for their work and that should be sufficient.
Please note that unlike for VOBs, out Upgrade Guide does not mention specific steps to views, only making a backup of the view storage (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSSH27_8.0.1/com.ibm.rational.clearcase.cc_ms_install.doc/topics/c_upgr_rwp.htm). The instructions to backup a view state that the data is not critical, in the same way I mentioned before.
We are migrating from v7 to v8, with a new set of servers, so everything will be migrated, not upgrade the existings. So we installed a new v8 CCRC WAS Server, then I copied the view storage, register them with the new CC registry server, copied the view copy areas, try to add them to the new CTE v8. This is what I am doing. I will try to reformat the view to see if it works.
The reason we want to migrate views is there are so many views, asking users to re-create, especially the web views used in CCRC takes a lot time. So I am trying to find out if the users can use the existing v7 views.
Thanks
