Why am I receiving message DWW051I CICSVR SERVER ADDRESS SPACE IS NOT ACTIVE after following the instructions in the Program Directory for CICS VSAM Recovery for z/OS (CICS VR) V5.2 to install CICSVR and the post install tasks described in the CICSVR Implementation Guide and Reference?
When I enter command:
VARY SMS,CICSVR,ACTIVE
no messages are written to SYSLOG indicating success or failure. Entering command:
DISPLAY SMS,CICSVR
results in message:
DWW051I DFSMS CICSVR COMMAND REJECTED. nnn
CICSVR SERVER ADDRESS SPACE IS NOT ACTIVE.
Answer
The Program Directory for CICS VSAM Recovery for z/OS Version 5 Release 2 GI13-3319-00 is not accurate in section 5.2.3 DASD Storage Requirements in item 6 regarding LPA data sets. It states in the first bullet that "These data sets can be in the LPA, but they are not required to be in the LPA." However, if the SDWWLPA data set is not in LPALIB, you cannot start the CICSVR server address space.
Section 5.2.3 DASD Storage Requirements, Note 6 should be updated to change the first 2 bullets to the following:
6. All target libraries that are listed and contain load modules have the following attributes:
- The SDWWLPA data set must be in the LPA for CICS VR server. These other data sets can be in the LPA,
but they are not required to be in the LPA.
- If CICS VR server is not used, it is not required for the SDWWLPA data set to be in the LPA.
Also, if this is a new install, CICS VR 5.2 requires a re-IPL. For a CICSVR server upgrade to 5.2, the SETPROG LPA command can be used to update the SDWWLPA members in LPALIB.
