DFHAC2236 AZIE and AXFW when changing to IPIC connections and using ACF2

Question & Answer

Question

Why am I receiving message DFHAC2236 with abend AZIE and AXFW after changing connections from either MRO or LU62 (APPC) to IPIC IPCONN under CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) V5.2? I use IBM RACF security in some of my CICS regions and CA Technologies ACF2 in my other CICS regions.

I receive the following messages:
DFHAC2236 date time applid1 Transaction tran abend AXFW in program DFHMIRS term -XXX. Updates to local recoverable resources will be backed out.
DFHAC2236 date time applid2 Transaction tran abend AZIE in program UNKNOWN term -XXX*. Updates to local recoverable resources will be backed out.

Answer

CA ACF2 tacks data on to the datasteam and expects another ACF2 be be at the other end to remove the data. But, since it is RACF at the other end, the data does not get removed and causes the problem.

CA technologies has identified the problem in the CA ACF2 code. At the time I posted this question, CA technologies was working toward a fix but did not have a fix number yet. In the mean time, they provided the following work around for the problem. You can change the default configuration setting as follows:

FROM:

Sysid Dft Lid Transmit Receive Format Linksec
     ----- ------- -------- ------- ------ -------
**** CICSUSER YES YES ACF2 NO

TO:

Sysid Dft Lid Transmit Receive Format Linksec
     ----- ------- -------- ------- ------ -------
**** CICSUSER NO NO CICS NO

Please contact CA technologies for additional information about this problem.
