Question & Answer
Question
I am running z/OS 2.1 in a large parallel sysplex. Many of the production DB2 logs are showing this error:
PR11 DSNLIENO TCP/IP CONVERSATION FAILED 219
TO LOCATION ::167.105.41.26
IPADDR=::167.105.41.26 PORT=51085
SOCKET=READ RETURN CODE=1127 REASON CODE=76650291
I need to know the meaning of the reason code, but cannot find it in the IBM manuals.
Answer
For a more explicit answer:
Those return codes can be found in the USS manuals:
The UNIX System Services Messages and Codes:
http://publibz.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr_OS390/BOOKS/bpxza8c0/2.0
The return code 1127 is the error code in decimal.
Errno: 00000467(1127) : ETIMEDOUT
Description: Connection timed out.
You had a read timeout waiting on data from the remote peer, so you will need to pursue this from the remote peer side.
- An example of a possible possible cause is something like a failed network switch.
