DFHIS0002 0105 in DFHISDM when using SSL encryption after applying PTF UA77676

Question & Answer

Question

To avoid message DFHIS0002 with error 0105 DFHISDM after applying z/OS PTF UA77676, am I required to COLD start my CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) regions? After installing z/OS RSU1506 which included PTF UA77676, my IPIC connections that use secure sockets layer (SSL) encryption started failing with message:

DFHIS0002 A severe error (code X'0105') has occurred in module DFHISDM.

The only way to get past this error is COLD starting the CICS region.

Answer

Yes, after applying PTF UA77676, you should COLD start your CICS regions. Some of the IPIC control blocks are recovered after a WARM start and a COLD start is required so the control blocks are built correctly.
