CICS CM not removing empty group from GRPLIST resulting in DFHSI1538D

Question

Is there any option in CICS Configuration Manager for z/OS (CICS CM) to automatically delete an empty group from the group list? I used CICS CM to remove all resources from a CSD group, but found it did not remove the empty group from the GRPLIST. Afterwards, during CICS startup, I received the following message requiring intervention:

 DFHSI1538D applid Install GRPLIST Errors. Is startup to be continued -
 Enter GO or CANCEL

Answer

CICS CM V5.1 introduced this feature as a new System Option in member CCVXSYSO in the SCCVSAMP data set.

 AutoRemoveDeletedGroups=Y;

This system option allows you to automatically delete empty groups from the lists.
