SPSS 23 on Mac OS El Capitan does not work as it should
I use SPSS 23 on a Mac system. I've never had a problem with SPSS 23 until I upgraded to El Capitan.
Just after upgrading to El Capitan, everything worked just fine. Now after I've been working with it for a few weeks, the program seems to get slower at every launch. Also I have the problem where I can't open files directly without getting the "cannot open" error; I use the "Open"-command in SPSS where I have to browse through the folders manually as a workaround. Given the multitude of similar questions on this issue, I ask myself how much longer it will be until there is a fix? It's been almost half a year since Apple released a developer's pre-version!
Regarding the slow startup, I've had similar performance issues with SPSS 21 and 22. The fix used to be to delete the com.ibm.spss.plist file from the library folder. This won't work anymore, since 23 doesn't use this file.

Unfortunately, the Fix Pack did not solve the issues. Starting SPSS 23 still takes ages and I still cannot open files directly by double-clicking on them in the finder.
By the way: It would have been helpful, if there were a note on the download page, which indicates that I have to reenter the license after installing the Fix Pack.
First of all, Opening the data file through File-->Open -->Data is the strongly recommended method to open the data files. Can you open the data files normally in this way?
Secondly, after installing the Fix Pack, if there is no license problem, you do not have to reenter the license.
Finally, please uninstall and reinstall SPSS Statistics 23 by following the correct process in attachment. link text
