Question & Answer
Question
When displaying on VTAM the name of an LU associated with a TN3270 client served by a Communications Server for Linux (CSL) node, the display does not include the expected message IST1669I IPADDR..PORT ipaddr..portno.
Answer
You have done either or both of the following:
specified IPINFO=NONE as a start option on the VTAM host
disabled the sending of the TCP/IP Information Control Vector (CV X'64') by specifying NO_TCPIP_VECTOR on the ptf_flags parameter on the define_node command.
Consequently, VTAM suppresses display of message IST1669I.
To resolve this issue, first enter the VTAM DISPLAY command D NET,VTAMOPTS,OPT=IPINFO to determine whether or not the VTAM start option IPINFO=NONE is coded:
If IPINFO=NONE is coded, message IST1669I will be suppressed, and you should dynamically modify the IPINFO start option value by entering the VTAM command MODIFY NET,VTAMOPTS,IPINFO=DISPONLY. For more information, see the related IBM technote: How to control the saving, displaying, and propagation of IP information for TELNET 3270 clients.
If IPINFO=NONE is not coded, or the problem persists after specifying IPINFO=DISPONLY, enable the sending of the TCP/IP Information vector to VTAM by removing NO_TCPIP_VECTOR from the ptf_flags parameter on the define_node command.
