Hi;

From the stack trace that you share;

The installed feature set as shown like that;

 [1/5/16 13:01:04:656 EST] 00000020 com.ibm.ws.kernel.feature.internal.FeatureManager A CWWKF0012I: The server installed the following features: [ssl-1.0, localConnector-1.0, appSecurity-2.0, json-1.0, jsp-2.2, servlet-3.0, jaxrs-1.1, jndi-1.0, distributedMap-1.0].

But, as an example jsp feature not shown,

 [1/5/16 13:00:33:824 EST] 00000014 LogService-73-com.ibm.ws.jsp.factories.2.2 E CWWKE0702E: Could not resolve module: com.ibm.ws.jsp.factories.2.2 [73] Unresolved requirement: Import-Package: com.ibm.wsspi.webcontainer.servlet; version="[2.1.0,3.0.0)" Unresolved requirement: Import-Package: com.ibm.ws.jsp; version="[2.2.0,2.3.0)" -> Export-Package: com.ibm.ws.jsp; bundle-version="1.0.10.cl50720150827-0437"; bundle-symbolic-name="com.ibm.ws.jsp"; version="2.2.0"; uses:="com.ibm.websphere.ras.annotation,javax.el,com.ibm.ws.jsp.configuration" com.ibm.ws.jsp [76] Unresolved

Can you try to clean start for your environment ? In the near past, we have encountered this error after upgrade.

Start your jvm with --clean option.

 ./bin/server start jvm-name --clean

You can find detailed information that links;

Liberty:server command options

Administering Liberty from the command line

Best regards.

This does not work for me. Do you have any other suggestions? I still see the same problem.

We have a product that had laid down files from Liberty 8.5.5.5 and Liberty 8.5.5.7. Is this a supported configuration? Is there a way to point to Liberty 8.5.5.7 only? Some Linux platforms are okay with this and others break our install.

After deleting the Liberty 8.5.5.5 files (jar files), we were able to recover.

Hello @ramke @bdeleon , you need to pay attention, that in the wlp/lib folder there is only one version of a module. If you have installed 8.5.5.5 and 8.5.5.7 into the same wlp destination folder, then you have modules of both versions installed, like this:

 com.ibm.ws.security.quickstart_1.0.14.jar
 com.ibm.ws.security.quickstart_1.0.9.jar
 com.ibm.ws.security.ready.service_1.0.14.jar
 com.ibm.ws.security.ready.service_1.0.9.jar

etc...

This probably answers your question: Is a mixture of 8.5.5.5 and 8.5.5.7 liberty jar files supported ?

This will cause unpredictable results. The KnowledgeCenter for Liberty also confirms, that Liberty updates / new versions need to be installed in separate directories, then you can copy the config files, servers, etc... to the new WLP destination:

https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSAW57_8.5.5/com.ibm.websphere.wlp.nd.iseries.doc/ae/twlp_inst_fixpack.html

"Important: You must apply a new fix pack archive to a new location."

Hope that helps...

Still looking for the answers to the following questions

1) Is a mixture of 8.5.5.5 and 8.5.5.7 liberty jar files supported? 2) Is there some WAS configuration option to choose which version Liberty uses? 3) Why does such a mixture work on some installs and fail on others?
