Question & Answer
Question
Why am I receiving message DFHCE3548 reporting sporadic ASNA abends coming from DFHSNP? This occurs for probably less than 1% of our signons. I am running CA Technologies ACF2 as my security manager.
The message that I am seeing is:
DFHCE3548 12/11/2015 12:23:43 applid Critical error has occurred in DFHSNP. Codes: ASNA,0000000E,7402,00000016,00000001
Answer
Apply the following fixes to CA ACF2:
PTF RO83269 and test APARs TR87087 and TR87225.
The signon being performed specifies a password and a new password. CA Technologies ACF2 code has hooked into the DFHUSAD ADD_USER_WITH_PASSWORD call made by DFHSNTU. When the CA ACF2 code completes, it re-issues the DFHUSAD call so that the CICS state is correct. However, the call being made is now DFHUSAD ADD_USER_WITHOUT_PASSWORD but it has still set the USAD_NEW_PASSWORD_X bit on. This causes DFHUSAD to try and process a new password (as seen by a DFHXSPW UPDATE_PASSWORD call). However, at this point of time, there isn't a new password which causes the unexpected error and abend.
