SPSS challenge. correlate, factor analysis and reliability analysis wont work

Question by bradleyphodge  (3) | Feb 10, 2016 at 05:30 PM spsscorrelationfactoranalysisreliabilityanalysis

I have reinstalled SPSS multiple times but each time I go to use a correlate, FA or RA nothing comes up. Other functions work fine, just not these. Which is strangely annoying as these are the only functions I need to use right now. Any hints would be really helpful

Hello, Do you mean you are not seeing the dialog box appear or is something else happening? If the dialog box is not appearing then do you use dual monitors? We have seen due to the use of dual monitors that the dialog box when closed on a secondary monitor and then tried to be opened on the primary, SPSS tries to reopen the dialog in the last place, which would be off the screen. To try and correct this, launch SPSS and go to Window->reset dialog sizes and positions. Click the OK button. Now try it again. Does it work? If not, then try these steps below

They are listed for SPSS 23. If the version is different, just change the 23.0 to your version.

Please first choose Start->Run and type: regedit This will open up the Registry Editor. Once this has been opened, simply go to this key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JavaSoft\Prefs\com\ibm\/S/P/S/S\/Statistics\23.0\ui\

click on /W/I/N/D/O/W_/I/N/F/O_/P/R/E/F/S

Double click on the  key labelled:

/W/I/N/D/O/W_/S/I/Z/E_/L/O/C/A/T/I/O/N

Under Value Data, delete the value and click OK.

Close the registry editor.

Relaunch SPSS

The dialog box will be reset to the default position.

Best, Dain IBM SPSS Technical Support
