DFHRL0119E and DFHRL0115W when trying to enable a bundle in CICS

Question

I changed one of my CICS application bundles. Now when I start my CICS region receive the following DFHRL0119E message and I can not enable MYBUNDLE:

DFHRL0119 E CICSPROD The CICS resource lifecycle bundle class failed to re-create the BUNDLE
resource MYBUNDLE because of failed consistency checks with the manifest
/u/usassc3/cics690/JVMBundles/MYBUNDLE/META-INF/cics.xml.

I have tried the following three steps to enable MYBUNDLE but none worked.

1) Enable bundle via CEMT and I receive message:

DFHRL0115 W CICSPROD CEMT The attempt to enable the BUNDLE MYBUNDLE failed because one or more of it defined resources are in an UNUSABLE state.

2) Discarded MYBUNDLE and then reinstall MYBUNDLE and I receive message:

DFHRL0115 W CICSPROD CEMT The attempt to discard the BUNDLE MYBUNDLE failed because one or more of its defined resources are in an ENABLED state.

3) Disabled and Enabled the JVM for this bundle and I receive messages:

DFHSJ0917 CICSPROD JVMSERVER MYJVM is disabled. DFHSJ0915 CICSPROD JVMSERVER MYJVM is now enabled and is ready for use.

Next, I attempted to enable MYBUNDLE and I receive message:

DFHRL0115 W CICSPROD CEMT The attempt to enable the BUNDLE MYBUNDLE failed because one or more of its defined resources are in an UNUSABLE state.

Answer

That is the expected behavior. A bundle can contain multiple bundle parts and if one or more of the bundle parts are enabled and the rest disable the bundle will not install until you do a disable and discard.

If CICS is unable to create and enable a resource dynamically, the BUNDLE resource installs in the disabled state and a warning message is issued. Even if only one out of a number of resources fail to install, the BUNDLE resource installs in a disabled state. Use the Bundle Parts view in the CICS Explorer to view the state of every resource in a BUNDLE resource.
