GIM30209E APPLY PROCESSING FAILED ... REQUIRED SYSMODS FAILED OR WERE MISSING

Question & Answer

Question

Why would I get message GIM30209E indicating that some of the pre-requisites are missing when trying to apply PTFs that I ordered with Include requisites as YES? I am upgrading from CICS Configuration Manager for z/OS (CICS CM) V5.2 to V5.3. As per the instructions in the 5.3 User Guide, I ordered the following PTFs for APAR PI47700 to apply it to CICS CM V5.2:

UI33644
UI33645
UI33646

I am not sure how I can get these PTFs applied.

Here is what I specified in SMP/E for the APPLY:

 APPLY
           SELECT(
                  UI33645,
                  UI33646,
                  UI33644
                         ) CHECK
                           FUNCTIONS GROUPEXTEND .

Here is the SMPE messages I get:

Answer

The default on Shopz for pre-req PTFs only goes back 45 days. I suspect the reason you are not getting all the needed PTFs is because Present service level "PUT 1511" is specified. The download would have checked the prereq PTFs and assumed they should already be present if the current service level is PUT 1511.

I placed an order for the same 3 PTFs, but specified PUT 1401 to go back and pick up UI19883 and the other prereqs. My order shipped PTFs...

You can also read more about the different service level types in the z/OS documentation under Maintenance after installation.

CST testing and the RSU are described on the Consolidated Service Test and the RSU web page.

If you re-order using PUT1401 level this should go back far enough in time to pick up all the prereq PTFs.
