CICSIA Upgrade DB2 tables and stored procedures from CICS IA 5.1 to 5.3

Question & Answer

Question

When upgrading CICS Interdependency Analyzer for z/OS (CICS IA) from V5.1 to V5.3, do I have to manually check each DB2 resource definition to make the updates (OR) is there any alternate way to identify and get the DB2 tables updated? I noticed that some of the DB2 tables and stored procedures have changed with the new release. For example the CIU_RESOURCE table has a new column named PLATFORM added.

Answer

If you want to upgrade your existing CICS IA V5.1 DB2 data base to the CICS IA V5.3 format, you need to run the CICS IA Configuration clist to customize the sample jobs and run the CIUNMG51 job which will unload and reload the CICS IA tables with the new format.

Ensure you apply PTF UI38838 for CICS IA V5.3 APAR PI61481 to ensure the CICS IA Customization clist is at the current maintenance level. You can review the CICS IA V5.3 Fix list to see if there are any newer APARs that you should apply.

See the following sections in the topic Creating the upgraded DB2 environment of the CICS IA V5.3 documentation:

  • Step 1B - Updating the IA DB2 database

  • Step 1C - Updating the stored procedures

The CIUNMG51 job should complete with return code 0.
