Question
After IPL the following error messages are received from RACF and VTAM, respectively:
ICH415I session attempt rejected - reason code 12
IST970I APPC LU VERIFICATION ERROR - CODE 12 FOR profilename.
The ICH415I explanation for RC12 is 'A profile was found with an expired session key', with Operator response 'Notify the RACF Security Administrator.'
The IST970I explanation is 'The password for the profile has expired', with Operator response, 'For codes 03, 04, 0B, and 0C, enter the MODIFY PROFILES command for the LU. Notify the security administrator of the code and profilename.'
Answer
From RACF, make sure that the SETROPTS SESSIONINTERVAL or the SETROPTS NOSESSIONINTERVAL is set to the value your installation wants for the APPCLU session profile.
The VTAM MODIFY PROFILES command refreshes an active application's set of RACF profiles. The command updates the profiles in storage to reflect changes made by the security administrator to the RACF profiles.
