How do I get my previous views, layout, and perspectives to show up in CICS Explorer after upgrading from CICS Explorer 5.1.0.0 to z/OS Explorer 2.1.0.5 with CICS Explorer 5.2.0? My open views and layout and perspectives are gone from my previous workspace. However, the columns and filters I created in my old CICS Explorer workspace are still there so it is finding something.
Answer
The previous CICS Explorer 5.1.0.0 was built on Eclipse 3.6.2. The z/OS Explorer 2.1.0.5 and CICS Explorer 5.2.0 are built on Eclipse 4.2.2. There are fundamental differences in how perspectives and layouts are managed between Eclipse 3.6.2 and Eclipse 4.2.2 so those elements are incompatible. There is a warning note about this on the CICS Explorer download page in "Scenario 7" where it is documented that upgrading is only supported from CICS Explorer 5.1.1. Since this is from CICS Explorer 5.1.0 (using Eclipse 3.6.2) this upgrade of the workspace is not supported. See CICS Explorer download page for "Scenario 7".
