To set the system time or current date, as root use the date command
(MMDDhhmm[[CC]yy][.ss]). It is recommended that you use Network Time
Protocol
(NTP) at your site. NTP synchronizes the system clock to that of the
NTP server and frees you from having to set the time independently.
To change your system time, enter: date --set=24:00:00EDT
The sample date command sets the time to midnight EDT.
