Why didn't SuperC compare all the members in my PDS even when I put an asterisk (*) in the member name field?

Question & Answer

Question

When I use the SuperC compare utility, the output looks wrong if the new data set is entered with an asterisk (*) for all members to be compared. The number of members processed by SuperC is less than the number of members in the PDS, and not all of the mismatches are shown.

Answer

The unprocessed members are probably aliases. By default, SuperC does not process aliases.

Provide the ALLMEMS process option to SuperC if you want to compare all directory entries, including aliases, but do not want to select them from a member list. This is useful for batch comparisons of entire load modules.

If you are using ISPF Utilities to do the comparison, select option 3.13, SuperCE, for extended compare. Select the Options action bar choice, and select 2. Process Options from the pulldown menu. ALLMEMS is in the first section, Input Process Control Options.
