WCM inline editing and Workflow

We want to use Inline Editing to create content and still want to use workflow to approve content. This seems mutually exclusive... Is there anybody that have done this and if so how?

The Authoring Template that is associated with the Authoring Tool component being used by Inline Editing should specify the Workflow to use for the content being added. Also, if you plan to Edit a content item using Inline Editing be sure to select the option to "Create Draft Content".
