Question & Answer
Question
Why would a newly created z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition (EE) server fail at startup with an error indicating zosconnect can not run server, and messages JVMSHRC559E and JVMSHRC686I?
I see the following messages in the joblog:
Error: zosconnect can not run server 'test1' does not exist.
JVMSHRC559E Failed to create a directory "/var/zosconnect/servers/.classCache/javasharedresources" for the shared class cache
JVMSHRC686I Failed to startup shared class cache. Continue without using it as -Xshareclasses:nonfatal is specified
Answer
This is most likely an authorization error. Please make sure that the userid assigned to the BAQSTRT has the authority to create a directory in /var/zosconnect/servers directory.
