Why would the CICSPlex SM (CPSM) LMAS COI0 transaction be abnormally terminated with abendAEXY indicating it has been purged?

Answer

I looked at a system dump of the abend AEXY where the CICSPlex SM (CPSM) MAS agent taskid 00106 for the long running task COI0 was purged.

Using IPCS command VERBX DFHPDxxx 'TR=1 (where xxx is your release level of CICS like 690 for CICS TS 5.2), I can see in the trace domain a SET TASK command being requested.

Using the taskid 00056 from the SET-TASK trace entry in command VERBX DFHPDxxx 'APS=<taskid=xxxxx>' to look at the storage for this taskid, I see this message:

FT455I FORCEPUR COMPLETE TASK NO. 00106 BEING PURGED TRAN:COI0

It looks like taskid 00056 is running transaction JNL2 which might belong to BMC Mainview. Perhaps they have automation to purge long running tasks and the CPSM MAS agent tasks need to be excluded, or perhaps someone using BMC Mainview purged it by accident.
