CPA1039E System Definitions are corrupted but CPASMFI2 is missing

Question & Answer

Question

I am receiving CPA1039E messages when using various CICS Performance Analyzer for z/OS (CICS PA) ISPF panels. Reviewing message CPA1039E in the CICS PA documentation seems to indicate a corruption of the CPASMFI2 member in the table library. But when I look at the table library, I do not see a member called CPASMFI2.

I am running CICS PA V5.3. I have verified that the Personal Systems Take-up ran successfully against the table library.

Answer

When using CICS PA, the 'CPA1039E System Definitions are corrupted' message can appear if you have not created any shared system definitions in a Historical Database (HDB) register, and you are running CICS PA with the option 'Use Shared System Definitions'.

Use Systems in the action bar to switch between using only Personal System Definitions, only Shared System Definitions, or both. If you choose to use both, you can specify which is to take precedence if there are two definitions with the same name. In the following example, option 5 is selected so the Personal System Definitions would take precedence.

For the CPA1039E error, if you have specified to use the Shared System Definitions, you will need to create the definitions to resolve this problem. Or, you can set option 3 to use the Personal System Definitions only.
