Question & Answer
Question
What would cause me to intermittently get the following EZY1286E message for transaction CSKL with an EIBRESP2 of 50 when my socket listener starts at CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) startup?
EZY1286E READ FAILURE ON CICS/SOCKETS CONFIGURATION FILE TRANSACTION= CSKL EIBRESP2=50
Answer
The EIBRESP2=50 in message EZY1286E indicates that the sockets configuration file EZACONFG was disabled. You should check the CICS system programming interface (SPI) audit log to see if there were any modifications to the state of the file.
In this case, I saw the following messages in the audit log that happened at the same time as the EZY1286E message:
DFHAP1900 IVRV SET FILE(EZACONFG) OPEN RESP(NORMAL) RESP2(0).
DFHAP1900 IVRV SET FILE(EZACONFG) CLOSED RESP(NORMAL) RESP2(0).
DFHAP1900 CSKL SET FILE(EZACONFG) ENABLED OPEN RESP(NORMAL) RESP2(0).
DFHAP1900 IVRV SET FILE(EZACONFG) DISABLED RESP(NORMAL) RESP2(0).
DFHAP1900 CSKL SET FILE(EZACONFG) DISABLED CLOSED RESP(NORMAL) RESP2(0).
The DFHAP1900 messages show that transaction CSKL enabled and opened the configuration file, but transaction IVRV disabled the file which caused the file to be disabled when CSKL went to read it. IVRV should be enqueuing on file EZACONFG but does not.
