Question & Answer
Question
We are attempting to configure multiple VLANs to an OSA port, but we are getting the following error message:
EZD0044I INTERFACE interface_name DEFINITION NOT ALLOWED - NOT VMAC ROUTEALL
Answer
Error message EZD0044I indicates that the stack could not define the interface because the interface did not adhere to the rules for defining multiple VLAN interfaces to the same OSA-Express port or HiperSockets™ CHPID.
One of the rules for defining multiple VLAN interfaces to the same OSA-Express port or HiperSockets™ CHPID is that you must "configure the VMAC parameter on each of the INTERFACE statements with the default ROUTEALL attribute." (IP Configuration Guide)
ROUTEALL is the default attribute for the VMAC parameter. Therefore you must have overridden the default value of ROUTEALL by specifying ROUTELCL, which is invalid when defining multiple VLAN interfaces to the same OSA-Express port or HiperSockets CHPID.
Either explicitly specify ROUTEALL on the VMAC parameter or let VMAC default to ROUTEALL, on each of the INTERFACE statements.
