Datacap Navigator not displaying batches

Hi

I have an issue with Datacap navigator, where it stops displaying batches to users. Further investigation shows that this is due to rulerunner failed to set the status of a batch, leaving it blank. Batch was in transit between Vscan and Batch profiler. There is no Batch profile XML file created yet, however SQL table show the task of the batch is set to Batch Profiler. This means Datacap navigator stop rendering batch list if it encounters a batch with a blank status.

Is this a Datacap navigator bug?

In order to fix this, you have to go into tmweb and change the Batch status to non-blank value for navigator to start displaying batches again.

This is an intermittent error, most of the time batch list is fine.

This caused by batch status being left blank by rulerunner , this stops the navigator from building batch list. Soon as you change the batch status from blank to a value, batch list comes up OK.

I have seen that happen when using Microsoft Access as the engine database. I was told it was because TMServer uses a multithreaded approach for database communication now (allowing much higher throughput in heavy use) and Access doesn't support that. It happens a lot in the Quicksilver technique I talked about last year (see the files section). All of the reports I have had from the field say that this goes away using SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2 as your database for the Taskmaster databases.

We are using SQL Server, but we are still getting intermittent issue and definitely not using Quicksilver technique.

If you haven't already, you should open a PMR for it. When we were researching the Quicksilver issue, devs were asking for a lot of different logs.

Did you ran any scripts on Engine Database like adding custom column etc..

Yes, we did at the start of the project to setup additional columns.

Please check is any errors related to Job monitor view in system out or error files in ICN?

If yes, Make sure all the columns selected in Jobmonitor and required columns in JMView views available in Engine database after adding a custom columns.
