Question & Answer
Question
Why am I receiving the following CWWKB0109E message when installing a new Liberty JVM Server into existing production CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) V5.2 regions?
CWWKB0109E: IBM CORP product CICS LIBERTY version NOTUSAGE failed to register with z/OS, return code = 8.
The explanation of CWWKB0109E states: The named product failed to register with z/OS using the IFAUSAGE service. Return codes greater than zero come from the IFAUSAGE service itself. Negative return codes indicate an internal problem processing the registration request.
Looking through the " messages.log ", I also see the following message.
CWWKB0104I: Authorized service group PRODMGR is not available.
Answer
Message CWWKB0104I indicates PRODMGR is not available but it is needed to enable IFAUSAGE services. PRODMGR allows the Liberty JVM server to register and unregister from IFAUSAGE when the CICS JVM server is enabled and disabled.
To allow a CICS region where the region user ID is cics_region_user to register and unregister from IFAUSAGE, set up the RACF profile "SERVER BBG.AUTHMOD.BBGZSAFM.PRODMGR":
RDEFINE SERVER BBG.AUTHMOD.BBGZSAFM.PRODMGR UACC(NONE)
PERMIT BBG.AUTHMOD.BBGZSAFM.PRODMGR CLASS(SERVER) ACCESS(READ)
ID(cics_region_user)
Once you set up the profile, you should recycle CICS and restart the Liberty Server. Afterwards, you should no longer receive messages CWWKB0109E or CWWKB0104I.
See The Liberty server angel process in the CICS TS documentation for more information about setting up the RACF profile.
