Question
Since migrating to z/OS 1.12, the FLG field in EZZ2500I vdpt,detail display output is always blank. In the past it included the DistMethod.
Answer
The DistMethod was moved out of the Flg field into a field of its own beginning with the 1.12 release, so it is perfectly valid, beginning with 1.12, for the Flg field to be blank in some situations.
This change is documented in Table 22 (Summary of New and Changed Communications Server Netstat Operator Commands) of the z/OS V1R12.0 Summary of Message and Interface Changes . In that table, the following description of VDPT changes is found:
"In the display for a distributed VIPA, the distribution method is no longer displayed in the Flg field. The distribution method is now displayed in a new DistMethod field. The DistMethod is not included in the short format display unless the DETAIL parameter is used. The Flg field can now indicate the HotStandby target date, active (V or Active) or backup (K or Backup) depending on whether the Short or Long format display is used."
