Question & Answer
Question
Why am I receiving an abend0C1 in DFHSJITL when I initialize CICS Transaction Sever for z/OS (CICS TS)? I see the following message:
DFHAP0001 CICSAPPL An abend (code 0C1/AKEA) has occurred at offset X'FFFFFFFF' in module DFHSJITL.
I am also seeing abends 0999 ASRA and AKEH in the dump table and trace.
Answer
The dump of CICS reveals that there was a RUNAWAY (0999) detected, followed by the S0C1 ABEND. But the most interesting finding is in the JVM output files. The output shows that there is a directory that cannot be found or created. This specification was for the WORK_DIR for the JVM server.
The JVM output shows:
2017/02/05 03:52:55.056266 UTC JVMServ1 D ÝLE-Thread-0¨ ÝDFHSJSC:13158¨
*Exc*: perrorEncoded(), change_to_dir - @Exit 2: EDC5129I No
such file or directory. (errno2=0x0594004D)
2017/02/05 03:52:55.071812 UTC JVMServ1 D ÝLE-Thread-0¨ ÝDFHSJSC:5573¨
*Exc*: change_to_dir(), Failed to create directory (check permissions?) =
2017/02/05 03:52:55.071818 UTC JVMServ1 D ÝLE-Thread-0¨ ÝDFHSJSC:2704¨
*Exc*: ipt_control_loop(), Failed to redirect output
Once the correct path was added to the WORK_DIR parameter in the JVM profile, the abend 0C1 in DFHSJITL no longer occurred. See JVM server options in the CICS TS documentation for more information about the WORK_DIR option.
