OMEGAMON z/VM Linux situation goes away

Question & Answer

Question

On my OMEGAMON XE on z/VM and Linux V4.3.0, I have a situation set up to fire when the LINUX CPU > 60% and

Answer

There are several things that could be going on.

  1. If your PTK (Performance Tool Kit) was down for 3 CP Performance Monitor cycles then the agent would stop looking for data and the situation would be become untrue.

  2. You need to determine how often you are sampling. If your CP Performance Monitor interval is set to 60 seconds then in a little over 3 minutes if the PTK was down, your situation could be untrue.

  3. In your log do you see messages like this: KVLAL1045E PERFORMANCE TOOLKIT COLLECTOR PROCESSING TIMED OUT (58D0A5FE.0000-2:kvlptkc.cpp,430,"copyData") KVLAL1046I PERFORMANCE TOOLKIT COLLECTOR RESUMES PROCESSING This shows that the Performance Toolkit shut down for some some period of time and then started back up.
