IZE0106E Connect failed with error Not Found for CICS Explorer CMCI SMSS connection

Question & Answer

Question

Why would the CMCI SMSS connection fail with message IZE0106E when trying to connect to my CICS region from CICS Explorer V5.2? The failure occurs after converting the region to CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS TS) V5.2?

IZE0106E Connect failed with error Not Found

The same region will connect to CICS Explorer if we run it with the CICS TS V4.2 libraries. I get the same set of messages regardless of whether I use the CICS TS V4.2 or CICS TS V5.2 libraries so I do not think this is a security problem or the port being blocked.

I have attached my Explorer Service Data zip file.

Answer

If I check the ExplorerServiceData .zip, I do not see any tracing in the .cicsexplorer.trace.0.log which bothers me.

The .log file shows the following exception:

The SystemSummary.txt file in the Explorer Service Data.zip shows the CICS Explorer is V5.1, not V5.2:

 *** Features:
com.ibm.cics.core.feature (5.1.105.20140521-0051) "CICS Explorer UI core components"

If I check my own, it shows the correct 5.2 feature:

 *** Features:
com.ibm.cics.core.feature (5.2.7.20160713-1237) "CICS Explorer UI core components"

Upgrade the CICS Explorer to the latest 5.2 version and attempt to configure the CMCI connection to your test region.

You can use this link to download the 5.2 CICS Explorer:

http://public.dhe.ibm.com/ibmdl/export/pub/software/htp/zos/updates/CICS_Explorer_520x_win32_vLatest.html

You should also be able to use the Latest version of CICS Explorer with CICS TS V5.2.
