Why would we want to create a sysplex subplex and what benefits would we would see by creating a subplex?
Answer
The reason for the introduction of SUBPLEXing is to restrict use of Sysplex functions in a Sysplex connected to multiple security areas. In other words, it is introduced for security rather than performance reasons.
A networking SUBPLEX is a subset of VTAM nodes or TCP stacks in the Sysplex:
All the members of the subset can establish dynamic connectivity through the Sysplex with other members of the subset.
Members of the subset cannot establish dynamic connectivity through the Sysplex with non-members of the subset.
